Rick Gustin has been with Johns Manville for over 20 years. After graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1996 with a degree in mechanical engineering, he worked for a roofing contractor before coming to Johns Manville in 1998. He started as a field technical representative, became a senior technical services specialist in 2000 and later became a certified Six Sigma Black Belt managing cost-reduction projects. After a brief return to the contracting community, he helped create JM’s Application Engineering group, where he became manager of Guarantee Services responsible for all aspects of JM’s Guarantee liability, including wind riders. He reviewed FM Global Codes extensively to document project compliance and educate JM’s customer base. He then managed EPDM product for Johns Manville in 2013 and played a pivotal role in developing the pre-taped FIT product. More recently, Rick created JM’s Peak Life Guarantee extension and maintenance program focusing on assisting building owners with maximizing the life and value of their roofing assets. He is also the technical manager for JM’s Claims Group, where he is responsible for addressing owner concerns and resolving complex roofing issues.
